At JFCS we offer a variety of support groups within our areas of expertise: clinical services, career & economic opportunities, Klein older adults, and family stability services. We believe the power of community can bring together individuals with similar needs to work towards personal and group goals.

Grief & Loss Support Group

While every loss is unique, it can be comforting to have support from others
who have experienced loss and understand. Find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one in our Grief and Loss Support Group.

This group is for adults who have experienced the death of a spouse, partner, parent or other loved one and offers a safe space to find how others cope with their personal situation and gain new ideas and strategies for your own situation.  Groups are facilitated by a trained professional and meet bi-weekly.

Daytime and early evening meeting times available.  Contact services@jfcslouisville.org or call (502) 452-6341.

  • Are you looking for ways to best support your child?

Join us for a FREE virtual support group for parents of transgender children. Members will gain mutual support, education and engage in problem-solving and community-building.

This group will meet virtually on the third Monday of each month from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Contact services@jfcslouisville.org or call (502) 452-6341.

Support Groups for Older Adults

Our array of support groups for Older Adults provide valuable resources and assistance to family members and friends caring for someone 60 years or older. These groups typically offer:

  • Information on aging, health issues, caregiving techniques, and available resources.
  • Assistance with navigating challenges related to caregiving, including practical solutions and advice.
  • A community where caregivers can connect with others facing similar situations, share experiences, and provide emotional support to each other.

JFCS support groups are facilitated by professionals experienced in geriatrics, ensuring caregivers receive expert guidance and insights tailored to their specific needs. Support groups assist caregivers in effectively managing the care of others while also caring for themselves.

These groups are funded in part by KIPDA through the Older Americans Act and the Cabinet for Health Services.
