The Jewish community understands the immigrant and refugee experience which fuels our desire to help new Americans make a successful transition to self-sufficiency. Our culturally diverse staff provides immigrants and refugees with the skills and services they need to achieve financial independence.

Career Academy

The Career Academy is offered free of charge to Louisville’s refugee population. You can
become self-sufficient through adequate employment by working with our career specialists to achieve a satisfying career. Our staff will help you learn if you qualify for financial assistance to pay for any job training you may need.
To be eligible for free services through the Career Academy, you must be recently arrived in the U.S. (less than five years), meet low income guidelines, and have some understanding of the English language.

For immigrants and refugees who have been in the U.S. for more than 5 years, we offer workshops and career services to help explore employment in various fields of interest. Learn skills related to finding job opportunities through our Jumpstart Your Job Search workshops. Topics of discussion include effective resume writing and interview techniques.

Career Workshops

Re-Certification and Re-Credentialing

Re-certification or re-credentialing allows internationally-trained refugee professionals to return to their career of interest upon resettling in the U.S. Our staff evaluates titles and transcripts of foreign educational documents and can help navigate the process. Scholarships are available for those who have been in the US less than five years with refugee status. For those who have been in the US for more than five years, services are available on a sliding fee-scale basis.

Navigate Enterprise Center

Start your own business with help from the Navigate Enterprise Center. We provide refugees, immigrants, and low-income individuals with the skills and tools that lead to financial security. Through our lending programs, we can help you find the money that will enable you to achieve your business goals. Learn more at

Financial Education and Refugee Savings Program

If you are a refugee in a low-income family, you may be eligible for our Refugee Savings Program. This allows you to save your own money and receive up to $4,000 in additional funds from the U.S. government. This money may be used to buy a home, continue your education or start your own business. If you do not qualify for this program, we can help refer you to similar programs in the community.
