  • Director of Mission Advancement
    • Position:  Director of Mission Advancement
      Organization:  Jewish Family & Career Services
      Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
      Position Type: Full Time
      FLSA Status: Exempt
      Location:  Louisville, Kentucky

      The Director of Mission Advancement will lead and ensure the implementation of the JFCS development and stewardship efforts to grow the necessary resources for the organization. The Director will supervise the Mission Advancement team and report to the CEO.

      The Director of Mission Advancement will provide oversight, strategy, goal setting and accountability for the Mission Advancement team. The Director will work with the CEO and Board to communicate the JFCS mission, vision and strategic plan to external stakeholders, community partners and donors. The Director will create a culture of relationship building, donor engagement and will build and maintain an individual portfolio of donors.

      The Director will oversee and implement the annual giving, major gifts, planned giving programs and fundraising events. Other responsibilities include the supervision of team members working in the areas of events, volunteers, communications and grants to obtain resources and add new individuals into the prospect pipeline.

       

      Qualifications, Competencies and Characteristics

      • Bachelor’s degree required, at least five years fundraising experience, events management, major gifts and donor stewardship experience, and management experience preferred
      • Demonstrated knowledge of and the eagerness to implement fundraising principles and best practices
      • A passion for the JFCS vision, mission and values and a desire to help “repair the world”
      • Ability to develop constructive, cooperative, and respectful relationships with others and maintain those relationships over time
      • An enthusiasm to connect donor and volunteer prospects to their passions by listening, understanding and responding with timeliness and accuracy
      • Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail, creating a donor experience that is joyful, meaningful and fun
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate the JFCS story, mission, vison and values
      • Demonstrated experience in managing brand standards and accepting of the JFCS “brand guardian” role along with the CEO
      • Experience with federal and foundation grant management
      • Operates with diplomacy and discretion
      • Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit
      • Has the change-making ability to create a culture of philanthropy
      • Enjoys building a successful team
      • Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines
      • Effectively utilizes general and program-specific computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite, databases, etc.)

      Travel Requirement: Local travel during the course of business

      Salary: $65,000-$75,000

  • Homecare Aide
    • Position:  Homecare Aide
      Organization:  Jewish Family & Career Services
      Reports to: Homecare Director
      Position Type: Direct Care Personnel, Variable Hour
      FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
      Location:  Louisville, Kentucky

      JFCS is seeking a Homecare Aide who will assist the elderly, convalescent, or persons with disabilities with daily living activities at the person's home or in a care facility. Specific responsibilities will vary by client but will include assistance with non-medical self-care and everyday tasks as well as providing social support and companionship. The Homecare Aide will report to the Homecare Director.

      Qualifications, Competencies and Characteristics

      • High school diploma preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
      • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English.
      • Training provided, but previous experience working in personal care, homecare or with the elderly population preferred.
      • Valid Driver’s License.
      • Must have reliable transportation.
      • Must be 18 years of age or older.
      • A passion for the JFCS vision, mission and values and a desire to help “repair the World”
      • Assist clients with personal care (e.g. bathing, dressing, eating, exercises, grooming, incontinence care, medication reminders, mobility and transfers, etc.)
      • Perform companionship services (e.g. transportation services, escort to appointments and events, socialization and conversation, visit neighbors and friends, provide reminders for appointments, write letters and correspondence, play games and aid with reading, stimulate mental awareness, respite, etc.)
      • Perform homemaker services
        • Light housekeeping (e.g. laundry, change linens, make beds, empty garbage, dust furniture, mop floors, vacuum, organize and clean closets)
        • Meal planning and preparation (e.g. grocery shopping, cooking and clean-up)
        • Help with errands (e.g. dry cleaning, Rx pick up, personal shopping)
      • Adhere to strict confidentiality of constituent information
      • Other duties as assigned

      Performance Requirements: 

      • Perform shifts as scheduled (e.g. arrive on time, stay for the duration).
      • Follow provided care plans for all clients exactly.
      • Stay in communication with the Homecare Director continually.
      • Attend and complete all mandatory trainings.
      • Turn in required documentation (e.g. timesheets, flow sheets, incident reports, etc.) in a timely manner.
      • Comply with all applicable KY Personal Services Agency regulations.
      • Prompt compliance to requests for documentation and screenings (e.g. TB and drug).
      • Respect confidentiality of clients and comply with confidentiality and information security guidelines.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Ability to effectively communicate in English through oral and written means.
      • Sensitivity to the elderly, convalescent, and persons with disabilities.
      • Maintain composure, keep emotions in check, control anger, and avoid aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations.
      • Be pleasant with others on the job and display a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
      • Monitor clients and client environments and keep Homecare Director informed of potential concerns or hazards.

      Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:

      • This position will require the worker to climb, stoop, kneeling, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push/pull, lift, grasp, and/or feel during the course of essential duties.
      • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned and to make general observations of facilities and structures. Corrective lenses acceptable.
      • Worker must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word. Assistive devices acceptable.
      • Worker must be able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction. Assistive devices acceptable.
      • Medium work, with worker exerting up to 50lbs of force occasionally, up to 30lbs of force frequently or up to 10lbs of force constantly to move objects.
      • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (work typically conducted in a home or other climate-controlled location).
