Purpose: The Crime Victims Advocate helps older adults who have suffered financial exploitation; physical, emotional or sexual abuse; robbery or burglary; caregiver neglect and other crimes with supportive services to navigate the criminal justice system and respond to their resulting emotional, physical, and financial needs.
Essential Functions:
- Manage a case load of older victims of crime.
- Accompany and support clients in court proceedings.
- Identify emergency housing options.
- Engage in outreach, advocacy, case management and counseling activities.
- Conduct trainings, workshops and educational events on crime prevention.
- Provide concrete services such as, completing eligibility forms, filing police reports and protective orders, accessing community resources and filing Crime Victim’s Compensation claims.
- Coordinate and facilitate access to services.
- Networking with community service providers.
- Track, monitor, case note and report client events.
- Information & Referral (I&R) services with clients and family members.
Secondary Duties:
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely client records and associated notes in the mandated systems according to agency and HIPAA policies.
- Attend staff, team and impact area meetings.
- Other duties, assigned.
Travel Requirement: Considerable local travel (Louisville Metro area) required during the course of business.
Pre-Employment Requirements: Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment background and drivers’ record check. Negative TB test and drug screen required.
Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors in human services field or equivalent experience
Performance Requirements:
- Stay current on general community resources and local/federal entitlement programs.
- Responsible for meeting agency, grant and other funder outcomes in a timely manner
- Attend all agency and department meetings, including weekly clinical meeting with peer clinical supervision.
- Meet reporting and departmental deadlines.
- Maintain up-to-date client case records and outcomes measurement as mandated by internal policies and procedures, and by those with contracted organizations.
- Handle all Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) confidentially and follow agency mandates procedures regarding the security of client/agency information.
- Conduct self in a professional and respectful manner with coworkers and community members.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to develop constructive, professional and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain those relationships over time.
- Effectively utilize general and program-specific computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Penelope, etc.)
- Effectively operate typical office equipment (telephone, computer, fax machine, copier, mail machine, etc.)
- Sensitivity to different cultural, socio-economic and age groups.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
- Tasks involve sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching and performing other physical requirements commensurate with demands of the position, specifically conducting home visits.
- Sedentary work which involves sitting most of the time.
- Must be able to speak (expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words)
- Must be able to hear (hearing aids acceptable)
- Close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal, excessive reading, and preparing and analyzing data and figures (corrective devices acceptable).

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Salary: $16/hourJewish Family & Career Services is currently hiring Non-Medical Homecare Aides to begin immediately. Caring and compassionate caregivers work one-on-one with older adults in Jefferson County, assisting with personal care, meal preparation and light housekeeping. Position starts at $16/hour with opportunity for paid time off and benefits. Employees are required to pass a background check and drug screen. Flexible schedule, part-time and full-time schedules available.
Qualifications, Competencies and Characteristics
- High school diploma preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Must have the ability to read, write and speak English.
- Training provided, but previous experience working in personal care, homecare or with the elderly population preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.

- Assist clients with personal care (e.g. bathing, dressing, eating, exercises, grooming, incontinence care, medication reminders, mobility and transfers, etc.)
- Perform companionship services (e.g. transportation services, escort to appointments and events, socialization and conversation, visit neighbors and friends, provide reminders for appointments, write letters and correspondence, play games and aid with reading, stimulate mental awareness, respite, etc.)
- Perform homemaker services
- Light housekeeping (e.g. laundry, change linens, make beds, empty garbage, dust furniture, mop floors, vacuum, organize and clean closets)
- Meal planning and preparation (e.g. grocery shopping, cooking and clean-up)
- Help with errands (e.g. dry cleaning, Rx pick up, personal shopping)
- Adhere to strict confidentiality of constituent information
- Other duties as assigned
Performance Requirements:
- Perform shifts as scheduled (e.g. arrive on time, stay for the duration).
- Follow provided care plans for all clients exactly.
- Stay in communication with the Homecare Director continually.
- Attend and complete all mandatory trainings.
- Turn in required documentation (e.g. timesheets, flow sheets, incident reports, etc.) in a timely manner.
- Comply with all applicable KY Personal Services Agency regulations.
- Prompt compliance to requests for documentation and screenings (e.g. TB and drug).
- Respect confidentiality of clients and comply with confidentiality and information security guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate in English through oral and written means.
- Sensitivity to the elderly, convalescent, and persons with disabilities.
- Maintain composure, keep emotions in check, control anger, and avoid aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations.
- Be pleasant with others on the job and display a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
- Monitor clients and client environments and keep Homecare Director informed of potential concerns or hazards.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
- This position will require the worker to climb, stoop, kneeling, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push/pull, lift, grasp, and/or feel during the course of essential duties.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned and to make general observations of facilities and structures. Corrective lenses acceptable.
- Worker must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word. Assistive devices acceptable.
- Worker must be able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction. Assistive devices acceptable.

PALS Driver

Position: Driver

Position Type: Part Time - Afternoon
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Salary: $17.00 per hourPurpose: Passport Around Louisville Service (PALS) Driver will provide older adults with transportation for medical appointments, errands, shopping and outings. The Driver will serve on the JFCS Homecare team and report to the Homecare Director and adhere to safe driving practices and will not operate a cell phone while driving.
Essential Functions:
- Transport clients from designated addresses to appointed destinations as per schedule.
- Practice safe driving habits and follow all state and national safety regulations.
- Provide stand-by assistance to clients as they embark and disembark vehicle ensuring seatbelts are worn by all clients and assisting as necessary.
- Escort clients to and from errands and appointments as requested.
- Document mileage, maintenance and repairs on vehicle logs.
- Maintain vehicle readiness ensuring it is always clean, fueled and ready for use as well as identify and check for safety concerns, tire inflation, etc.
- Maintain communication with Homecare Director regarding any changes, safety issues, critical incidents or general client concerns.
- Excellent navigation skills and proficiency using navigation applications.
- Assist with other tasks on behalf of Agency that involve transportation.
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely client records handling all Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) confidentially in accordance with agency procedures regarding the security of client/agency information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school graduate preferred
- 20+ years old
- Valid driver's license and current, clean DMV record

- Tasks involve sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching and performing other physical requirements commensurate with demands of the position.
