JFCS Names David L. Finke, Ph.D. as Chief Executive Officer

Jewish Family & Career Services is pleased to share the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, David L. Finke, Ph.D., following an exhaustive national and local search. Finke will begin his role on September 13.

The search committee, which was co-chaired by JFCS Board of Directors members Karen Sherman and Linda Shapiro, was comprised of additional board members Michael Gold and Marc Charnas and leveraged input from local community leaders. The JFCS Board of Directors unanimously confirmed the selection.

“Karen and Linda did a phenomenal job shepherding us through a diligent, professional and efficient search which led us to David – an excellent CEO candidate who is already familiar with and respected in the communities JFCS serves,” said Mike Fine, JFCS Board President.

Finke brings more than twenty-six years of experience as a clinical psychologist and administrative manager in the social service sector, specializing in trauma-informed care practices. In his most recent role as the Vice President of Residential Programming for Bellewood and Brooklawn (formerly Uspiritus), Finke provided administrative and operational oversight for the dual campus residential treatment facility, implemented trauma-informed quality improvement initiatives for staff and collaborated with community service providers, schools and the court system regularly.

“I am excited and appreciate this opportunity to join the dynamic team at JFCS which works so diligently to expand possibilities for the most vulnerable in Greater Louisville,” said Finke. “JFCS was founded to meet the needs of refugees resettling in Louisville in 1908 and today serves the broader Louisville community with a trauma-informed approach so well,” he added.

As the CEO of JFCS, Finke will provide strategic leadership guiding the agency in furthering the tradition of holistic and strengths-based care provided through the JFCS core services of career services, counseling services, family strengthening, Jewish life, older adult services and micro-enterprise development through JFCS Navigate.

Thanks to the tireless work of our dedicated staff and the foundation of excellence built by our Board of Directors and prior leaders, JFCS continues to deliver critical services that expand possibilities for each person and every family throughout the Greater Louisville community.
