2026 High Holiday Family Food Drive & Family Mitzvah Day

As the High Holidays approach, Jewish Family & Career Services invites our community to take part in the 2026 High Holiday Family Food Drive, benefiting the Sonny & Janet Meyer Food Pantry. This annual tradition brings congregations, families, and community members together to help ensure that individuals and families facing food insecurity have access to nutritious food throughout the year.

Last year, the community collected more than 7,000 pounds of food, and JFCS hopes to make an even greater impact this year. Donations may be dropped off at participating congregations throughout the food drive or brought directly to JFCS through September 27.

The food drive will culminate with Family Mitzvah Day on Sunday, September 27, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at JFCS, where volunteers of all ages will help count, sort, and organize donated food. This hands-on volunteer opportunity is a meaningful way for families to give back together while supporting neighbors in need. Following the event, JFCS will announce the congregation that collected the most food and award this year’s traveling High Holiday Food Drive trophy.
