The JFCS Food Pantry is a vital resource available for JFCS clients. Thanks to the generosity of people throughout the community, our volunteers process more than 80 thousand pounds of food per year, which helps to feed more than 150 people each month. This service would be impossible without volunteers like Carole Goldberg, Melanie Fadel, Linda Goodman, Dara Cohen and Patsy O’Brien who help to shelve new food items, keep existing items current, remove expiring items and the pantry well organized.
These dedicated volunteers not only help ensure that our pantry is clean, the organization and signage allow clients to easily find items they are interested in taking home, rather than just being handed a box of food. But, they don’t stop there, these women help to spearhead all of the fundraisers and friend-raisers such as Jazz& Jewelry and Pizza for the Pantry that supports the Sonny & Janet Meyer Food Pantry Fund. “We really couldn’t offer this support to our clients without the hours of dedicated service Carole, Melanie, Lina, Dara, and Patsy give to JFCS every week.”– Kim Toebbe, JFCS Volunteer Coordinator
The program is always looking for donations and volunteers! Donations can be dropped off at the JFCS Louis & Lee Roth Family Center. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Kim Toebbe at JFCS at 452-6341, ext. 103 for more information.
