DESCRIPTION:Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance-use issues. This virtual course offered by JFCS will prepare participants to assist those experiencing a mental health crisis and will cover risk factors\, warning signs\, evidence-supported treatment and self-help strategies. Topics will include depression and mood disorders\, anxiety disorders\, trauma\, psychosis and substance use disorders. Participants in the course complete a two (2) hour self-paced online module prior to attending the six (6) hour certified instructor-led videoconference class. At the conclusion of the course\, participants will be certified a Mental Health First Aider. The course registration fee is $90 and includes access to the online module\, training with a certified instructor and digital downloads of all course materials. Register at mhfa@jfcslouisville.org. Registration is limited to 20 people. Deadline to register is April 15.
