Cynthia Brown is the Director of the JFCS Navigate Enterprise Center and has been with JFCS for five years. The Navigate Enterprise Center was founded in 1995, with the core mission of helping entrepreneurs from underserved communities start and expand small businesses. Cynthia and her team provide individuals with the skills, tools, and access to resources to achieve their business goals.
“I have always had a passion for business and marketing, as well as a passion for volunteer work and helping people. JFCS has been the perfect place for me to combine those passions and skills. JFCS has also given me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally in ways that I would never have expected.”
Cynthia’s first love is dance; she’s been performing since she was six years old. She also loves reading, music and “anything related to the arts.” She loves to travel, to explore new places and experience “new foods, culture, history, art and people.”
Three years ago Cynthia was a part of local arts group Roots & Wings. The group was a collective of poets, dancers, and musicians that collaboratively produced creative pieces to address social issues in the community. As a part of a two-year grant to explore arts as a tool for healing the group traveled to Senegal in West Africa. There they worked with several arts groups learning and performing and brought those experiences back to include in an original stage production that was performed at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.
