PALS is more than just transportation

Going out on Passport Around Louisville Service (PALS) rides has quickly become one of the highlights of my week. Not only do I get to help people stay independent in their homes but I get to do one of my favorite things, hear people’s stories and share mine with them. In the few weeks I have been helping out with rides I have met a variety of interesting people from the community, all with their unique perspectives and thoughts on life and the world we share. You never know when you might hear a story or get some insight that will change your life forever.

The multitude of needs we meet as volunteers and drivers for the PALS program is a boon not only to our many clients but for the community as well. If anyone you know needs help with transportation, please share our reasonable and reliable service. What makes us different is that our drivers, both the professionals and the volunteers, really care about the clients and community we are serving.

Passport Around Louisville Service (PALS) is an easy-to-use, affordable program that helps adults maintain their independence by providing transportation services. PALS operates Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

With PALS, seniors and other adults with disabilities can continue all of their regular activities like grocery shopping, medical or personal appointments, volunteer activities, social engagements, and much more! PALS has wheelchair-accessible vans available which feature easy entry/exit ramp for walkers.  We offer assistance to and through the door as well as escort services are available when you need someone to accompany you to your appointment for a small added fee.

For more information about PALS visit https://jfcslouisville.org/transportation/ or call Naomi Malka at (502) 452-6341 ext. 249. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer PALS driver, please contact Kim Toebbe at [email protected] or call (502)452-6341 ext. 103.
