James O’Connor was born in Dublin, Ireland and had a successful soccer career in the UK before being signed in 2012 to the Orlando City Soccer Club. During the 2013 season, he began his role as both player and coach and retired from playing in the summer of 2014 to become head coach of Louisville City Football Club. In 2017, Coach O’Connor led the LouCity team to win the United Soccer League’s Championship.
Coach O’Connor has volunteered hundreds of hours with local charities and community partners and encourages the same with his team and office employees. He has arranged for free game tickets for underprivileged families, has visited schools and children at local hospitals.
