JFCS is currently seeking a full-time counselor to work primarily with the older adult and family caregiver populations. The position will be responsible for personal counseling and for the development of effective and comprehensive care plans to help clients achieve their goals. The counselor will also provide case management, crisis intervention and outreach services as well as coordinating and/or conducting psychosocial and ADL assessments. Other duties include, but are not limited to, leading training groups and workshops, facilitating support groups and assisting clients with the acquisition of government benefits.
Considerable local travel (Louisville Metro area) required during the course of business; associated mileage will be reimbursable.
Master of Social Work (MSW) or equivalent degree required. Certified Social Worker (CSW) preferred. Valid Driver’s License required. Previous experience working with seniors preferred. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment background and drivers’ record check and negative TB test required.
Qualified candidates should have strong writing comprehension and expression skills and the ability to develop constructive, professional and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain those relationships over time. Sensitivity to different cultural, socio-economic and age groups is a must.
