JFCS Participates in Mayor's Give-a-Day

Today’s blog written by Kim Toebbe, Volunteer Coordinator

On Tuesday, April 17 a cheerfully hard-working group of volunteers from Jewish Family & Career Services transformed a small part of Shawnee Park from an untidy mess to clean and green in just a few hours!  As our “mascots” Mr. Frog and Mr. Worm looked on, we cleared away weeds, trash and other debris using some pretty impressive looking garden tools!

This volunteer event was well-organized by Myra Campbell with input from The JFCS Green Team and JFCS Employee Committee.  The mayor’s office supplied gloves, lawn & leaf bags and tools and we worked alongside other good citizens to make a difference.  This should become a yearly tradition if for no other reason than this was a great opportunity for co-workers to bond, enjoy the outdoors and do good all at the same time!  Many thanks to those who facilitated this event, JFCS management for approving our participation in the event and to all who volunteered  at the event at Shawnee Park.

“Next year in Shawnee Park!”
