Full Steam Ahead Friday Updates!

BLAM! It’s Friday again, and you know what that means: time to get you up-to-date on what’s going on at JFCS this week.

Our JFCS January enewsletter is out now, for even more news (meet our newest staff members, anyone?). Subscribe that stuff!

Lost in Translation is an upcoming couples communication class that looks like it’s going to be as massively fun as it will be insightful. Don’t wait to sign up (or communicate the plans to go with your significant other 😉 )!

-Again, our ACT Prep Classes are coming back on Mondays and Tuesdays, February 4 through March 4, for eight sessions at 7-9 PM. Register SOON because these always fill up fast. For more information and to register, contact Janet Poole at (502) 452-6341 ext. 222.

This year’s MOSAIC awards winners have been announced, and you can get the scoop in Business first. MOSAIC Awards will be held this year on May 30.

Our agency’s landscaping has taken a beating this last year. Heavy drought, shrubbery death, and even lightning (seriously) have all been brutal on our JFCS arboreal buddies. Unfortunately the $3,000 necessary to replace and maintain appearances is not in the budget. If anyone wants to wave their magic wand and provide a contribution of part or all of these unplanned expenses – even volunteering gardening time – the whole agency would be thrilled, and you would be a herbaceous hero!  Your gift will be acknowledged. Please contact Beverly Bromley, Director of Development & Marketing, at 452-6341, ext 223.

JFCS and JCL are challenging the community to take the Food Stamp Challenge, and join us on Sunday, January 27 at JFCS from 5 – 7 pm. We’ll be hosting a vegetarian pot luck! Vegetarian lasagna will be provided and we are asking people whose last names begin A-K  to bring vegetarian or dairy sides and L – Z to bring desserts. “Admission” is two cans of food for the food pantry. This is a great way to highlight the needs of the hungry in Louisville and underscore that even with food stamps, it is hard for many individuals and families to eat healthy foods and eat enough. RSVP to Kim Toebbe at (502) 452-6341, ext. 103.

-Finally, please note that the agency will be closed on Monday, January 21, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Have a great extra-long weekend!
