Frigorific Friday Updates

SLEET has arrived to Louisville this icy Friday, and yours truly has already fallen spectacularly twice already. Do be careful (and wear shoes with better traction than mine, honestly). Here’s your JFCS roundup for this week:

-We have a great new workshop scheduled for anyone who needs to polish their interviewing skills. As mentioned in yesterday’s blog, Strengths Through Storytelling: Nailing the Job Interview is happening on February 18 & 20, from
5:30-7:30 p.m. Take your job search to the next level! There’s a $39 workshop fee, but if you register early there’s a 10% discount. The deadline for registration is Monday, February 11. For further information and registration please contact Janet Poole: (502) 452- 6341, ext. 222.

Lost in Translation, our upcoming couples communication class, is going to be a fun and insightful evening for you and your partner to strengthen your relationship. Don’t wait to communicate your interest in participating:  contact Ellen Shapira at (502) 452-6341 ext. 225 before February 4 to register.

-This weekend is the Adoption Fair at the U of L Shelby campus (January 27, 1-4 p.m.). If you’re thinking of expanding your family, this is the perfect event for you to educate yourself!

-That same day is also our JFCS/JCL vegetarian potluck (January 27th at JFCS from 5 – 7 p.m.). Vegetarian lasagna will be provided. People whose last names begin A-K are asked to bring vegetarian or dairy sides; names L – Z to bring desserts. “Admission” is two cans of food for the food pantry.

-There are still a few openings available in our upcoming ACT Prep Classes. Those will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays, February 4 through March 4, for eight sessions at 7-9 PM. Register SOON if you want to have the sharpest ACT game in town! For more information and to register, contact Janet Poole at (502) 452-6341 ext. 222.

-Last but certainly not least, our Career Services department welcomes Lisa-Anne Ferris as our new Career Specialist and Projects Intern. Welcome, Lisa-Anne!

That’s all for this week here at JFCS. Have a great weekend – and watch your step out there! 🙂
