Food Pantry: Blast from the Past!

Guess what we received recently that was donated to the food pantry…a package of Uncle Ben’s rice with a use by date of 1978!  REALLY?!  Really.

While we so appreciate the hundreds of donations of food that help to sustain families in need, we cannot give out expired food.  With the holidays right around the corner, we know that many of you will generously drop off food for the pantry. PLEASE check the product expiration date that is on all canned goods and boxed foods.  If it’s expired and you don’t want it, then neither will our clients.  Thanks for your care, concern and support.

This month’s food pantry requests are: cranberry sauce, canned yams, Durkee onions for green bean casserole, cream of mushroom soup, instant potatoes, gravy mix or prepared gravy in cans and jars, pie crust mix, laundry soap, aluminum foil.

All donated food must be in original packaging, and again, please do not donate expired items 🙂 For more information, please contact Kim Toebbe at (502) 452-6341 ext. 103
