Flowering Friday Updates

Another week whips by! Wednesday brought us into official springtime here in Kentuckiana, and things are starting to bud out despite the chilly temps. Winter cant hold us back at JFCS 🙂

-However, springtime also means that JFCS will be closed in observance of Passover, March 26 & 27, and April 1 & 2. Please plan accordingly.

-The Family Mitzvah Passover Event was held Sunday, and it was a really great time. Despite the dismal weather, we had a great turnout with lots of helping hands and happy faces. If you haven’t seen them yet, there’s a big gallery of images over on our facebook page.

-We talked about this on yesterday’s blog, but there’s still time to register for the upcoming Anxiety Management Classes, Controlling Worry.  Learn new ways to manage your anxiety, beginning on April 8 for five sessions. To register, contact Lauren Kehr, LCSW at (502)452-6341 ext. 227.

-We’ve spent a big part of this week working on signage for the Klein Older Adults department and their upcoming Caregiver Survival Workshop. If you look after an aging loved one, don’t miss this FREE event- it’s going to be HUGE. Thursday, April 11, we’ll be at the U of L Shelby Campus Founders Ballroom from 8 AM—3:30 PM (breakfast and lunch provided). Featured speaker is nationally known Elaine Sanchez, a healthcare speaker and author. Just make sure to pre-register by contacting Mauri Malka, Director of JFCS Klein Older Adult Services at (502) 452-6341.

The Feinstein Challenge is still in full swing! The Feinstein Foundation will divide $1 million among hunger-fighting agencies nationwide to help raise funds during March and April 2013; all donations during this period to the JFCS Food Pantry of food, canned goods and grocery gift cards, as well as monetary donations to the Sonny & Janet Meyer Family Food Pantry Fund, will be matched as part of the Feinstein Challenge to Fight Hunger. Help make a difference in your community with this great program!

- ACT Prep Classes are scheduled for May 6-June 4. These are held Mondays and Tuesdays, for eight sessions at 7-9 PM. For more information and to register, contact Janet Poole at (502) 452-6341 ext. 222.
