First Ever JFCS Purim Scavenger Hunt- A Smashing Success!

Written by Kim Toebbe, Volunteer Coordinator at JFCS

Many thanks to all those who worked to make the maiden voyage of the JFCS Supermarket Scavenger Hunt at Prospect Kroger a big success. Families, including: The Meerons, The Klings, The Shaikuns and The Yoffes wore their cutest costumes, solved clues and shopped to benefit the food pantry. A Kroger staff person gave a generous donation to the Sonny & Janet Meyer Family Food Pantry Fund and other staff stopped by to ask about agency services. About 150 pounds of donations were schlepped back to JFCS by Executive Director Judy Freundlich Tiell.

Laura Williams and Dara Cohen of Kroger were the perfect hostesses along with volunteers Sandie and Ron Meeron helped set up and facilitate this fun activity. “Tramp” Jordan Shaikun’s pet stuffed animal and “Doggie” Chloe Shaikun’s stuffed doggie were interviewed about their participation. When asked what was his favorite part of the scavenger hunt Tramp said “finding the cottage cheese!” If he would do the hunt again he woofed a resounding “Yes!” Doggie’s answers were similarly positive and smiles abounded before, during and after the event.

Kyler Meeron enjoyed shopping and was thrilled with his Purim treat bag. Seen holding up a puzzle Kyler said he had a lot of fun!
