Fall Friday updates

Brr! Fall has finally arrived, with near-freezing temperatures and plenty of jack-o-lanterns. But who knows? That nip in the air may be just the thing to get you out, about and involved in all of these great events we have planned.

LinkedIn Workshop, November 4 & 5
If you are not using LinkedIn, you could miss out on employment opportunities. JFCS can help you create a new profile or take yours to the next level with a two-part workshop on November 4 – 5. Learn how employers use LinkedIn, why LinkedIn is important to your job search and how you can best use LinkedIn. You’ll even walk away with your own LinkedIn profile featuring a professional photograph! Sessions start at 5:45 both days, and a registration fee of $20 covers both sessions. To register, contact Janet Poole at 452-6341, ext. 222 or [email protected].

National Caregiver Month – all November
In celebration of National Caregiver Month, we invite you to host a Caregiver Tea in the month of November to honor your friends who care for older adults. Any caregivers attending a Tea who live with their care receivers will be given 40 hours of free respite service as a sign of appreciation from JFCS Klein Older Adult Services. Caregivers will learn about principles of self-care and care options for their loved ones. If you or someone you know would be interested in hosting one of these events during daytime or evening hours, please contact Mauri Malka at 452-6341, ext. 250, or [email protected].

Employment Search Jumpstart – November 11
We partner with Interview League to offer a workshop on Monday evenings for all job seekers – whether unemployed, underemployed or currently employed – who need a quick, effective upgrade or acceleration of their employment search. Employment Search Jumpstart will meet on Mondays from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m., beginning November 11. There is a one-time materials fee of $10 for the entire workshop cycle. For more information, please contact Janet Poole at 452-6341, ext. 222 or [email protected].

Nominate an Exceptional New American for the MOSAIC Awards – by November 15
We are now accepting nominations for our annual MOSAIC Awards, which symbolizes Multicultural Opportunities for Success and Achievement In our Community. If you know a new or first-generation immigrant or refugee who is making a significant contribution in his or her profession and in our community, please let us know. The nomination deadline is November 15, and we even have a handy online submission form. For more information, please contact Beverly Bromley at 452-6341, ext. 223 or [email protected].

Chanukah Helpers Family Mitzvah – November 24
We will host our Chanukah Helpers Family Mitzvah event at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 24. Families with young children are invited to attend to help organize Chanukah gifts, enjoy music, eat snacks and have some fun together. This event is a wonderful way to teach children the importance of Tikkun Olam. Contact Kim Toebbe at 452-6341, ext. 103 or [email protected].
