Be Your Own Boss – JFCS Can Get You Started

Today’s blog written by Bob Tiell, Director of Career Services

Self-employment is one career option. Our Center for Enterprise Development works with various special populations including people from less advantaged backgrounds. However, JFCS also assists the mainstream population with business start-ups or expansion. The soft economy, tighter credit and related issues have prompted some folks, who might have otherwise started a business, to pass on that idea at least for the time being.

However, surveys suggest that some folks, particularly if they have the financial resources and backing, still want to explore a possible business start-up. Toward that end, next Monday January 30th from 5:30 to 7:30pm at JFCS David Cooper will be doing a workshop geared toward business start-ups and/or expansion. David has impressive business and legal credentials and was instrumental in helping companies like Texas Roadhouse and Tumbleweed get off the ground. There is a nominal $10 charge for this workshop.
