More than 90 children from the Jewish Community Center Summer Camp adopted the JFCS Food Pantry as a Mitzvah project this summer. During the week of Caring and Sharing, the children held a canned food drive, held a bake sale and lemonade stand, set-up car washes and entertained with a Mariachi band and a joke booth in order to raise money for the food pantry. With $400 raised, the middle school community service camp bought goods that usually are not donated but are needed for folks using the food pantry. Today the campers presented Janet Meyer, chair of the Food Pantry Committee, and Shelley Kahn, JFCS Volunteer Coordinator, with a check for $1,164.62! The money will go to the Sonny and Janet Meyer Family Food Pantry Fund. What a great group of kids. Thank you for a great fundraising effort that means so much to all of our clients in need who depend upon the food pantry.
