Choosing Your Child's School
A FREE presentation for parents who are interested in learning about various elementary school programs will be held on Thursday, October 28, at 7 p.m. at the Temple Trager Early Childhood Education Center. Ellen Shapira, M.A., JFCS educational and vocational counselor, will address the parents, and representatives from public, private and parochial schools will be available to answer questions about their schools. Parents in Process
Thinking about adoption? Come join us for Parents in Process, a group for prospective adoptive parents. The group will meet in two sessions, Mondays, September 20 and September 27 from 7-9 p.m. at the Louis & Lee Roth Family Center. Sessions will cover, adoption as a lifelong process, attachment and bonding, loss and grieving, and special needs of adopted children, including trans-racial adoption. There is a $10 materials fee for families in their homestudy process at JFCS and a $50 per session for other families. College Application Essay Workshop
JFCS will offer a college application essay workshop on Tuesday, September 7 from 7-8:30 p.m. A college essay coach with 30 years of professional experience will conduct the workshop. Participants will learn how to write an effective and unique college essay for any college application or scholarship. Learn how to get noticed by admissions offices, learn tips for producing good ideas, how to approach the writing process, how to write personably and vividly and to develop college writing skills.
